HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lions chalked up two more wins as they swept a double-header against Lemoyne Owen (Tenn.) College on Thursday.
The Lions took early leads in both games on their way to 17-2 and 9-1 wins.
Lemoyne Owen was scoreless for the first three innings, while FHU scored nine of its 17 runs with four RBIs from Ryan Seaton. In the fourth inning, Lemoyne put up its only two runs of the game.
The Lions (6-4) continued most of the game with their nine runs until the sixth inning when they came out and added seven more runs to their already substantial lead.
Charlie Overturf (1-2) picked up the win for the Lions with three perfect innings and five strikeouts. Four Lions recorded multiple hits, led by three from Kyle Dearing. Joe Mike, Ryan Seaton and Josh Goodwin each had two hits.
The second game began slowly with both teams scoreless after an inning of play. When the second inning rolled around, the Lions scored four times followed by five runs in the third. Lemoyne Owen scored its only run in the fifth inning.
Andy Southard (3-0) got the win for the Lions while Robert Prieto went 2-for-2 at the plate. Dearing and Blake Taylor both had three steals apiece.
The Lions are in action Saturday and Sunday, each at noon, against Indiana Institute of Technology.
