JACKSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman cross country teams competed in the Union University Invitational on Saturday, with the women placing third and the men fourth in the four-team fields.

Sloan Scott set the pace for the Lady Lions, who finished with 83 points.  She crossed the finish line in 12th overall and ninth among attached runners with a time of 20:38.  Freshman Libby Elliott also performed well, placing 21st with a time of 22:29, and was the second-highest finishing freshman among NAIA schools.

Taylor Holmsley (23:45) and Kierra Male (25:10) were close behind, finishing 24th and 25th respectively.  Cassie Searcy came in 27th with a time of 25:46 and Anna Peters was 28th with a time of 25:46.  Other finishers for FHU were Molly Kasarjian (26:22), Anna DeBerry (27:19), Kaitlyn Crews (27:49) and Becca Anderson (30:20).

Union won the women's event with a total time of 1:39:13 and 15 total points.

On the men's side, freshman Kyle Currington led the Lions with a time of 30:09, good for 13th place and 11th among attached runners.  Trent Adams was next for FHU, coming in 23rd with a time of 34:00.  Drew Crews (35:29), Kyle Kasarjian (37:17), Robby Thompson (38:55), Christean Covington (39:18), William Murphy (39:38), Noah Wallace (40:34), Carson Jones (41:20), Josh Cornett (41:35) and Joel Hayes (43:50) were the other Freed-Hardeman finishers.

Union won the men's event with a total time of 2:25:44 and 40 total points, narrowly edging Blue Mountain (Miss.) by three points.
