FHU runners set new season and personal bests at Louisville meet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven Lion and Lady Lion runners ran season-best times at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic over the weekend, while 10 set new personal records.

For the Lady Lions, Sloan Scott set the pace with a time of 20:24 to finish 102nd in the field of 405 runners.  It was her best time of the season.  Libby Elliott (21:47) was next for FHU followed by Taylor Holmsley (23:07), Kierra Male (23:38), Cassie Searcy (23:53), Anna Peters (24:09), Anna DeBerry (24:26), Kaitlyn Crews (25:40), Molly Kasarjian (25:45) and Becca Anderson (28:49).  

Crews and DeBerry ran their best times of the 2014 season while five runners - Anderson, Peters, Male, Kasarjian and Searcy - set new personal records.  Searcy in particular had a solid race, knocking a full minute of her previous PR.

The Lady Lions finished 40th in the field of 46 teams.

For the Lions, Kyle Currington was the team's top finisher with a time of 29:25, which was also a new personal record for the freshman.  Trent Adams (32:29), Drew Crews (33:27), William Murphy (35:13), Noah Wallace (36:19), Kyle Kasarjian (36:25), Robby Thompson (36:41), Josh Cornett (39:46) and Joel Hayes (41:20).

Adams, Crews, Cornett, and Wallace all set season-best times while Currington, Hayes, Kasarjian, Murphy and Thompson set new personal records.

The Lions finished 40th in the field of 41 teams.

The teams return to action at the Choctaw Open in Clinton, Miss., on Oct. 18.
