Scott posts highest finish in program history at Choctaw Open

CLINTON, Miss. - Sloan Scott posted the best finish by a runner for either team, coming in second of 61 competitors at the Choctaw Open on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Scott's time of 19:55 was just nine second off her PR pace, putting her across the finish line behind only Allison Denetchee of William Carey (Miss.).  Her placement helped FHU to a fifth-place finish in the field of eight teams.

Freshman Libby Elliott also had a solid race, coming in 17th with a time of 21:46.  Taylor Holmsley placed in the top 30, finishing 26th with a time of 22:41 in setting a new PR.

Anna DeBerry (34th, 23:52) also ran a season-best time.  Kierra Male (35th, 23:53), Anna Peters (36th, 24:18), Cassie Searcy (37th, 24:33), Molly Kasarjian (41st, 25:50), Kaitlyn Crews (42nd, 26:09), and Becca Anderson (53rd, 29:49) also posted time for FHU.

On the men's side, the Lions were led by Kyle Currington, who placed 35th with a time of 32:00.  He was followed by Trent Adams (40th, 32:38), Drew Crews (42nd, 33:49), William Murphy (45th, 34:42), Kyle Kasarjian (48th, 36:29), Noah Wallace (50th, 36:37), Josh Cornett (51st, 37:49), Christean Covington (52nd, 38:04) and Joel Hayes (56th, 47:47).  Murphy set a new PR while Cornett ran his season-best time.

Both teams now prepare for the American Midwest Conference Championships on Nov. 6 in Hannibal, Mo.
