Cross Country teams both place eighth at AMC Championships

HANNIBAL, Mo. - The Freed-Hardeman cross country teams finished off their 2014 seasons with eighth-place finishes at the American Midwest Conference Championships.

The Lady Lions came in eighth in the 11-team field and were led by Sloan Scott, who finished 18th with a time of 21:23.  Libby Elliott placed 43rd with a time of 23:25 and was followed by Kierra Male (49th, 24:12), Anna Peters (55th, 24:52), Taylor Holmsley (56th, 24:59), Cassie Searcy (58th, 25:13), Anna DeBerry (59th, 25:18), Molly Kasarjian (71st, 26:28), Kaitlyn Crews (72nd, 26:30) and Becca Anderson (78th, 29:54).

The Lions placed eighth in the eight-team field.  Senior Trent Adams set the pace for FHU with a time of 31:49, coming in 46th.  Drew Crews finished 49th with a time of 32:50 followed by Christean Covington in 50th at 32:58.  Kyle Currington (52nd, 33:54), William Murphy (59th, 35:14), Josh Cornett (60th, 35:26), Noah Wallace (64th, 37:23), Joel Hayes (65th, 40:27) and Robby Thompson (66th, 40:28) rounded out the times for FHU.

Columbia (Mo.) College won both the men's and women's team championships with the men placing five runners in the top 10 and the women placing three in the top 10 including both individual winners - Lindsey Martin (18:33) and Cristobal Renteria (26:33.1).  Renteria edged Park (Mo.) senior Thomas Chelulei by .8 seconds to win.
