HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion cross country team added another runner to its 2016 recruiting class with the recent signing of Tyler Alverson of Lebanon, Tenn.

Alverson prepped at Friendship Christian School in Lebanon, Tenn. where he was part of the All Mid-State team during his junior and senior seasons with the Commanders. He also finished seventh overall in the 2015 Tennessee State Championship.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Alverson has also excelled in the classroom, earning a 4.0 GPA during his time at Friendship Christian.

Derrick Spradlin, head coach for the Lion cross country team, said Alverson would be a great addition to the 2016 roster.

"Tyler has had a lot of very good races in high school and has performed well at the state level," Spradlin said. "We are hoping he can continue to improve and enjoy even greater success during his collegiate career. Academically and spiritually, he's a great fit for FHU, so I'm excited to have him join our team."

Alverson is the son of Travis and Kim Alverson of Lebanon, Tenn. He joins Philip Brock (McMinnville, Tenn./F.C. Boyd Christian) in the 2016 recruiting class for the Lion cross country team.
