NFCA Honors Carter with First-Team All-Region Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Monday that FHU shortsop Caitlyn Carter was among 172 student-athletes in the country who received 2016 NFCA NAIA All-Region accolades.  

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s six regions with first and second-team recognition. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2016 NFCA NAIA All-American squads.

Caitlyn Carter was one of 15 student athletes in the East Region to receive First-Team All Region accolades following an impressive season with the Lady Lions, where she took home Player of the Year honors for the AMC after hitting an impressive .503 while compiling 84 hits and 31 RBI's.

No. 1 Oklahoma City out of the Southwest Region led the way with seven selections, while regional foe and No. 9 LSU-Alexandria and No. 4 Campellsville University (Midwest) recorded six honorees. No. 17 Marian University (Ind.) from the Great Lakes and No. 18 Arizona Christian (West) earned five nods. Leading the way in the Central Region with four selections were No. 23 Grand View University and No. 15 Morningside, while in the Southeastern University posted an East Region-best four recognitions.

The 2016 NFCA NAIA All-America teams will be announced on Thursday, June 2, via NFCA.org.
