HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team added another player to its 2016-17 recruiting class with the recent signing of Hannah Wright of Dyersburg, Tenn.

Wright transfers to FHU from Southwest Tennessee Community College, where she was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) top incoming freshman by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Throughout her Junior College career, Wright appeared in 65 games as a pitcher, where she compiled six shutouts and struck out 172 batters in 356 innings of work.

In addition to her ability in the circle, Wright also excelled at the plate. Throughout her college career, she hit .364 and compiled 95 hits in 261 plate appearances while pounding out 13 doubles, six homeruns and 45 RBI.

Wright has been among the top players in her conference the past two seasons, as she was 1st overall in games started and complete games pitched. Additionally, she was 5th in the conference in strikeouts and 7th in shutouts.

In addition to her ability on the field, Wright has also demonstrated success in the classroom, earning a 3.78 cumulative GPA throughout her academic career.

"Hannah is the missing piece we have been looking for that will give us an edge in 2017," said Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion softball team. "As a pitcher, power hitter and position player, she will be a key player for our program this season."

Hannah is the daughter of Jeff and Rhonda Wright. She is the second player signed to the Lady Lion softball roster for the upcoming season. She joins Abbi Gooch (Florence, Ala./Mars Hill Bible School) in the 2016-17 recruiting class for the Lady Lion softball program.
