Bethel hands Lady Lions straight-sets loss on the road

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team suffered their fourth loss of the season in straight-sets Tuesday at the hands of in-state foe Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn. (25-20, 25-15, 25-17)

The straight-sets loss for the Lady Lions (1-4) marks FHU's third straight loss in five games played this young season. With the win, Bethel (5-0) extended their winning streak to five games, as the Wildcats have yet to experience a loss this season.

Despite the loss, several new players on the Lady Lions roster contributed solid minutes including Freshman Anna Claire Garrett, who led FHU in kills with seven. Ashton Webb followed close behind with five kills while Lindsey Gordon dished out 16 assists. Libero Bailey Brown countered Bethel's attack with seven digs.

Eloisa Sales led Bethel on the attack with 22 kills while Kaylee Ginnings dished out 34 assists in the win. Yumi Garcia defended FHU's attack well with 19 digs.

The Wildcats accumulated 40 kills and hit .176 in the match compared to the Lady Lions who hit just .100 in the match with 20 kills and nine attack errors.

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 1-4 on the season.
