HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team combined for just five goals throughout the first six games of the season. Tuesday night against Central Baptist College they exploded for nine in a stampede of the Mustangs.

Nina Carolissen led the charge for the Lady Lions, as she recorded a hat trick with three goals and six shots on goal to keep the Mustang defense on their heels the entire night.

Taylor Woods and Taylor Jenkins followed close behind and nearly recorded a hat trick of their own, as each finished with two goals. Woods and Jenkins also peppered a combined six shots on goal in the match.

Avis Van Kampen continued her strong play for the Lady Lions, as she added a goal in the 57th minute to extend her streak to three consecutive games with a goal. Kennedi Van Ravestein chipped in a goal of her own in the 60th minute to round out the scoring for the Lady Lions.

FHU (1-3-3, 1-0-2 AMC) controlled the offensive possession for a majority of the match, as they pounded out 42 shots and 25 shots on goal compared to Central Baptist (Ark.) College (1-6, 1-2 AMC), who attempted just one shot in the match and zero shots on goal.

Taylor Woods and Nina Carolissen would steal the show in the first half, as they accounted for all four goals in the first frame. Woods would get the scoring drive started in the 14th minute and followed it up with another goal in the 36th minute to extend the lead for the Lady Lions. Carolissen would score two goals of her own in the 22nd and 36th minutes to put FHU up 4-0.

The Lady Lions would find the back of the net five more times in the second half, courtesy of goals by Van Kampen (57th minute), Taylor Jenkins (58th and 71st minute) and Kennedi Van Ravestein (60th minute).

With the win, the Lady Lions pick up their first shutout of the season and move to 1-3-3 on the season and 1-0-2 in conference play. With the loss, Central Baptist falls to 1-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
