Owls hand Lady Lions straight sets loss in AMC Game of the Week

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team suffered their sixth loss of the season in straight-sets Friday night at the hands of William Woods University in the American Midwest Conference Game of the Week (21-25, 13-25, 19-25).

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 3-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. William Woods improves to 12-7 on the season with the win and moves to 2-0 in AMC play.

Despite the loss, the Lady Lions (3-6, 1-2 AMC) received solid contribution from Daymari Brito, who led FHU on the attack with eight kills. Sophomore Beth Maples followed close behind with seven kills while Lindsey Gordon dished out 25 assists.

Victoria Day led William Woods (12-7, 2-0 AMC) on the attack with nine kills while Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 26 assists and contributed two service aces in the win. The Owls defended FHU's attack well as Jessica Jensen countered with 19 digs.

William Woods accumulated 36 kills and hit .185 in the match compared to the Lady Lions who hit just -.007 in the match with 28 kills.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions continue their weekend home-stand Saturday, as they host Park (Mo.) University in a 3:00 PM match-up at the Brewer Sports Center.
