ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference announced its women’s soccer Players of the Week for the week ending September 25, 2016. The honors went to two teams who have not had women’s soccer honorees yet this season, with Nina Carolissen of Freed-Hardeman University taking the Offensive Player of the Week honor, and Flavia Rosado of the NAIA #15 Columbia College Cougars earning the Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Carolissen, a 5-6 sophomore midfielder from Bellville, South Africa, helped the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions climb into third in the AMC standings with a 2-0 week. She started her week on Tuesday with a hat trick in the Lady Lions’ 9-0 win at Central Baptist College. She also factored in all three goals the Lady Lions scored on Saturday when they defeated Stephens College 3-0. On Saturday, she scored twice and added an assist, giving her five goals and an assist for an 11-point week. She leads the Lady Lions in both goals (6) and assists (2).

Rosado, a 5-6 senior goalkeeper from Juiz de Fora, Brazil, allowed a single goal in 210 minutes of action on the week, helping the Cougars win all three games they played. She made three saves against Ottawa University and two more against Missouri Baptist. She has started all 10 matches for the Cougars in goal this season, and she ranks sixth in the NAIA in Goals Against Average.

The Player of the Week nod for Carolissen marks her second as a Lady Lion.
