FHU Golf in good shape following Day 1 of FHU Invitational

COVINGTON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman University Golf Invitational began Monday and solid play from both squads has put the Lions and Lady Lions in good shape for a final day charge in Covington, Tenn. 

The Lions golf team continued their outstanding play during the opening round of the FHU Fall Invitational. Shooting a team score of 295, the third consecutive round under 300, they currently are in the lead, seven shots ahead of Lindenwood-Belleville. 

Leading the way for the Lions following day one is junior Lance Moore, carding an even-par round of 72. Easton Lavelle and Hudson Huber shot 74 and Ben Burnette rounded out the team score with a 75.

The Lady Lions reside in second place after shooting a team score of 334. Cumberland University is in first, thirteen shots ahead of Freed-Hardeman.  Brittany Myers shot an 81 followed by freshman Kirsten Parker's 83. Chloe Kraus' 84 and Emily Whitnell's 86 rounded out the team scoring for the Lady Lions. 
Final round action begins Tuesday morning, with tee times beginning at 8:30 AM. The tournament is being played at the Covington Country Club in Covington, Tenn.
