HANNIBAL, Mo. - Beth Maples and Daymari Brito gave Hannibal-LaGrange all they could handle Friday, as they combined for 25 kills in FHU's 3-0 sweep of the Trojans at the Mabee Sport Complex in Hannibal, Mo.

Maples led the Lady Lions on the attack with 13 kills followed close behind by Brito who put up a double-double in the match with 12 kills and 10 defensive digs.

Setter Sara Denton dished out an impressive 31 assists in the match while also contributing on the defensive end with seven digs.

The Lady Lions took the first set easily after using a 12-0 run to extend their lead at the 20-8 mark following a run by the Trojans that saw them even things up at eight apiece. However, FHU would continue to hit an impressive percentage to finish off the first set with a 25-13 win.

The Lady Lions would continue to control the pace of the attack, despite a tighter second set, which saw FHU ahead by no more than five points for a majority of the set. However, as they did in the first set, the Lady Lions would use a 5-0 closing run to take the set 25-16.

It was much of the same for FHU in the third set, as they opened with eight unanswered points to take complete control. The Trojans managed just 11 scattered points in the set before the Lady Lions finished things off with a 25-11 win for the match.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 5-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions will not get much of a break following the victory, as they will be right back at it Saturday for a 12:00 PM match-up with NCAA Division 2 Lane College at the Brewer Sports Center.
