HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team took a 2-1 lead into the half Saturday night against Missouri Baptist, but the Spartans would answer with four goals in the second frame to hand FHU the 5-2 loss at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.

Nina Carolissen would get the scoring drive started for the Lady Lions (2-7-3, 2-4-2 AMC) in the seventh minute off an assist by Abigail Morales to even things up at one apiece following a goal by MBU in the fourth minute.

Melissa Ross would continue the momentum for FHU near the end of the first frame in the 38th minute, as she was able to send in a free kick from well outside the box that deflected off a Spartan defender and found its way to the back of the net. The goal by Ross marked her first of the season and gave the Lady Lions a 2-1 lead at the half.

The second half, however, would belong to Missouri Baptist (8-5, 6-2 AMC), as they would find the back of the net four times, which would give them all the cushion they needed to hand the Lady Lions their seventh loss of the season.

Alexandra Heinz would get the scoring drive started for the Spartans in the second frame, as she was able to find the back of the net in the 54th minute followed by a goal in the 72nd minute by Morgan Mell.

A pair of goals by Alyssa Matz in the 74th and 88th minutes would complete the scoring drive for the Spartans to give them a 5-2 lead, which would be all they needed to pick up the win.

With the loss, the Lady Lions fall to 2-7-3 on the season and 2-4-2 in conference play. Missouri Baptist improves to 8-5 on the season and 6-2 in AMC play with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions will be back in action Tuesday, October 18 as they travel to Conway, Ark. for a match-up with Williams Baptist College. The Lady Lions will kick things off at 1:00 PM followed by the men's match at 3:00 PM.
