ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Three goals in the first half and another in the second would be all the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team needed to pick up a 4-0 shutout over St. Louis College of Pharmacy Saturday on the road in St. Louis, Mo.

Nina Carolissen led the charge for FHU (3-8-3, 3-5-2 AMC), as she found the back of the net twice in the first frame to allow FHU to jump out to an early lead. Abigail Morales and Avis Van Kampen would each chip in a goal of their own to make a comeback unlikely for St. Louis College of Pharmacy (2-13, 0-11 AMC)

The Lady Lions dominated the offensive possession in the match, as they attempted 15 shots and 12 shots on goal compared to the Eutectics who attempted just five shots and two shots on goal.

A majority of FHU's scoring opportunities came in the opening minutes of the first half, as it took Nina Carolissen just 10 minutes to fire in a pair of goals to give the Lady Lions an early 2-0 lead.

Carolissen's first goal came in the second minute of the match off an assist by Abigail Morales and Sydney Dubiel, as the Lady Lions were able to catch the Eutectics off guard in the opening minutes of the match.

Moments later in the 10th minute, Carolissen would strike again, this time off an assist by Avis Van Kampen to put the Lady Lions on top 2-0. The Lady Lions offense; however, would not be finished, as Abigail Morales would find the back of the net in the 13th minute to give the FHU an early 3-0 lead.

Following the three early goals in the match, the Lady Lions would stay quiet on the offensive end until the 48th minute, as Avis Van Kampen would break free and find the back of the net off an assist by Abigail Morales to put FHU up 4-0 for the win.

With the win, the Lady Lions snap a five-game slide and improve to 3-8-3 on the season and 3-5-2 in conference play. With the loss, the Eutectics fall to 2-13 on the season and 0-11 in AMC play.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions will not get much of a break following Saturday's match, as they will be right back at it Tuesday, October 25 for a match-up with Lyon (Ark.) College. Match time is slated for 5:00 PM at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
