HENDERSON, Tenn. - Coming off its first national tournament appearance in 11 seasons, the Freed-Hardeman Lion men's basketball team will face a very challenging schedule that will hopefully prepare them for another trip to Kansas City in March of 2010.

The Lions' non-conference schedule includes eight games against six opponents which qualified for the NAIA National Tournament last season, including home-and-home series with Lee (Tenn.) University and Tougaloo (Miss.) College.  In addition, FHU travels to face off against perennial NCAA Division II power Florida Southern College, which advanced to the D-II Sweet 16 last year.

FHU also has two exhibition games scheduled with NCAA Division I opponents, renewing its rivalry with Lipscomb (Tenn.) University on Nov. 5 and visiting Austin Peay State (Tenn.) University on Nov. 30.

The schedule won't get any easier when TranSouth Conference play begins in January as the Lions face a difficult early stretch with road games against Cumberland (Tenn.) University, Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University, and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College and a home date with Union (Tenn.) University in the span of 12 days.

The complete schedule can be viewed here.
