COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team entered Friday's match-up with Stephens College needing a win to secure a spot in post-season play; and a win is what they got as they defeated the Stars 3-1 to likely lock up the seven seed in the AMC Conference Tournament.

Despite a slow start by the Lady Lions (11-14, 6-6 AMC), which saw Stephens College (9-24, 4-8 AMC) come away with a 25-23 first set win, FHU would rebound and take the next three sets to secure the win.

Freshman Ashton Webb paced the attack for the Lady Lions, as she ended the night with 13 kills. Daymari Brito followed close behind with 11 kills of her own while Beth Maples compiled 10 kills in the win.

Lindsey Gordon distributed the ball well in the match, as she ended the night with 39 assists while Bailey Brown and Cynthia Beene countered the Stars attack well, each with 10 digs.

The Lady Lions improve to 11-14 on the season and 6-6 in conference play. The Stars fall to 9-24 on the season and 4-8 in AMC play with the loss.

With the win, the Lady Lions also secure their spot in the post-season picture, as they will likely take the No. 7 seed in the AMC Tournament set to take place next week. FHU will likely face No. 2 seed Missouri Baptist University in that opening round match-up.
