HENDERSON, Tenn. - Despite four players reaching double digits for the Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team, the Tornadoes of Talladega College were too much to handle Saturday, as the Lions suffered their first loss of the season on Homecoming at the Brewer Sports Center.

Despite the loss, the Lions (1-1) held their own against the No. 7 team in the country, as they shot 43 percent from the field, led by Austin Dempsey who ended the night with 15 points.

Three other players reached double digits in the match-up, as Spencer Garner tallied 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds while Brad Allen and Grant Teichmann, each had 12 points in the loss.

Joseph Williams held things down on the defensive side of the floor, as he ended the night with three blocks to keep the Lions in the game down the stretch.

However, despite taking a 33-32 lead into the half, Talladega (5-3) would come out firing in the second half, as they shot 65 percent from the field and 75 percent from behind the arc to make things difficult on the Lions, who shot just 41 percent from the field in the second half.

Jordan Washington led the Tornadoes on the offensive end with 25 points while Marcus Brown followed close behind with 15 points. Keynan Gardner-Willis and John Allen also reached double digits, as each tallied 12 points in the win.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-1 on the season. The No. 7 Tornadoes improve to 5-3 on the season with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action on the road Thursday, November 17, as they make the trip to St. Louis, Mo. to face Harris-Stowe State University. The Lady Lions kick things off first at 5:30 PM followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM.
