Lady Lions outlast Belleville 59-58 in overtime

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - For the second time this season, the Lady Lions were forced to pick up a win in overtime, as Lindenwood-Belleville poured in a late three at the end of regulation. However, the overtime period belonged to the Lady Lions, as they notched a 59-58 win over the Lady Lynx.

Morgan Warren led the Lady Lions (4-0, 2-0 AMC) on the offensive end, as she put up 15 points in the contest. Gabrielle Nicholson followed close behind with 13 points while Tiffany Pate dominated the glass with 11 rebounds.

The Lady Lions led for a majority of the game, despite the Lady Lynx (4-2, 1-1 AMC) shooting a solid 44 percent in the game after turning things around in the final two quarters of play to even things up at 54 apiece at the end of regulation.

Allison Webb led the Lady Lynx on the offensive end, as she put up 19 points on a 9-for-16 shooting night from the field. Webb also pulled down nine rebounds in the contest while Brianna Mueller chipped in 10 points in the loss.

Despite Lindenwood-Belleville keeping things tight for a majority of the first half, the Lady Lions were able to finish the second quarter strong, as they took take a convincing 28-18 lead into the half. 

The Lady Lions continued their strong play in the second half, as they kept a near double digit, despite the relentless play of the Lady Lynx, who shot 44 percent.

The Lady Lynx would make the Lady Lions work in the closing minutes of the game, as they out-shot FHU 8-5 in the final four minutes, including a late three by Torre Kohrmann to even things up at 54 apiece to force overtime.

However, the Lady Lions were up for the challenge, as they were able to close things out in overtime to pick up the 59-58 win on the road.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Lynx fall to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in AMC play with the loss.
