BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team remained unbeaten in conference play Saturday, as a 27-point shooting performance from Grant Teichmann propelled FHU to their third win of the season.

Teichmann was not only aggressive on the offensive end, but he was also consistent as he shot 10-for-13 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc for his career-high 27 points.

Several other Lion players reached double figures in the match-up, as Sean Edwards had 15 points while Fitzgerald Hopkins chipped in 11. Spencer Garner continued his strong play, as he contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Joseph Williams also chipped in a career-high 10 points in the win.

The Lions (3-1, 2-0 AMC) kept a double digit lead for a majority of the game, as they went red hot from the field, which included shooting a 57 percent clip in the second half. The Lions also found success from behind the arc, as they shot 46 percent from three-point range in the game.

Lindenwood-Belleville (4-2, 1-1 AMC) also played well on the offensive end despite trailing for a majority of the game, as they shot 52 percent from the field in the second half.

Chris Deanes led the Lynx on the offensive end with 25 points while David Shepard and MarTavian Payne followed close behind, each with 18 points in the loss. Shepard and Payne also contributed double-double performances in the match-up, as Shepard ended the night with 11 rebounds while Payne pulled down 12 of his own.

The Lions would jump out to an early lead and never give it back, as they reached their largest lead of the first half at the 45-23 mark with 3:25 remaining, which would provide a comfortable cushion entering the break.

The Lions continued to roll following the break, as they kept a double digit lead for a majority of the second half. The Lynx would attempt a late comeback and close the gap to five at the 89-84 mark with 1:45 remaining before the Lions out-shot Belleville 8-4 in the final minutes to secure the 97-88 win.

With the win, the Lions improve to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Lynx fall to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lions continue their road schedule Tuesday, November 22, as they make the trip to Lebanon, Tenn. to face Cumberland University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
