Lions fall 87-71 on the road at Cumberland

LEBANON, Tenn. - The last time the Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team faced Cumberland University, FHU came away with a 73-70 victory at the Brewer Sports Center. Tuesday; however, was a different story, as the Phoenix protected their home court and came away with an 87-71 win in Lebanon, Tenn.

Despite the loss, the Lions (3-2, 2-0 AMC) played well on the offensive end, as they shot 51 percent from the field, led by Grant Teichmann, who ended the night with 14 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field in the loss.

Sean EdwardsFitzgerald Hopkins and Trevor Randolph also contributed on the offensive end, as each chipped in 10 points while Austin Dempsey rounded out FHU's scoring with seven points.

Cumberland (3-4); however, would post a higher percentage, as they shot 53 percent from the field in the game, including an impressive 60 percent shooting performance in the second half.

Diondrey Holt led the Phoenix on the offensive end with 21 points while Jamonte Graham followed close behind with 18 points. Joseph Wilbert also reached double digits in the match-up with 12 points in the win.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-2 on the season. Cumberland University improves to 3-4 on the season with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action on the road Monday, November 28, as they make the trip to Pulaski, Tenn. to face Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. Tip off is set for 7:00 PM.
