Lady Lions cruise to 14th win; dominate WBC 58-37

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team continued their quest for perfection Tuesday, as they picked up their 14th straight win of the season with a 58-37 victory over Williams Baptist College at the Brewer Sports Center.

Kim Mallory led the Lady Lions on the attack with 14 points, including an impressive 7-for-11 shooting performance from the field. Carrie Hatchel followed close behind with 12 points, including a 2-for-5 shooting performance from behind the arc.

Taleeah Cross also reached double digits in the match-up, as she chipped in 11 points while dishing out four assists. Mallory led the Lady Lions on the glass, as she pulled down seven rebounds in the win.


The Lady Lions (14-0, 8-0 AMC) shot 38 percent in the game compared to Williams Baptist (6-7, 4-4 AMC), who shot just 33 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc.

Alytrius Perry led the Eagles on the attack, as she contributed nine points in the match-up while going 2-for-4 from behind the arc. Kate Junkersfeld led Williams Baptist on the glass, as she pulled down five rebounds in the loss.

The Lady Lions kept a comfortable lead for a majority of the game, despite starting the game slow, hitting just 12-of-32 from the field in the first half. However, FHU would regroup in the second quarter, as they out-shot the Eagles 17-7 to take a comfortable 31-20 lead entering the break.

The Lady Lions would continue to roll in the second half, as they reached their largest lead of the game at the 56-29 mark with 3:11 remaining in the game. The hot shooting would continue throughout the remainder of the game, as the Lady Lions cruised to a 58-37 victory.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 14-0 on the season and 8-0 in conference play. The Eagles fall to 6-7 on the season and 4-4 in AMC play with the loss.
