Lady Lions cruise to 88-29 victory over Pharmacy

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 1 Freed-Hardeman women's basketball team continued their undefeated streak Thursday, as they picked up a convincing 88-29 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on the road in St. Louis, Mo.

Kim Mallory led the Lady Lions on the offensive end with 13 points and seven rebounds. Three other players reached double digits for the Lady Lions, as Gabrielle Nicholson ended the night with 12 points while Taleeah Cross chipped in 11. Carrie Hatchel rounded out the scoring for FHU, as she chipped in 10 points, including a 2-for-4 shooting performance from behind the arc.

FHU (17-0, 11-0 AMC) shot 40 percent from the field in the game compared to St. Louis College of Pharmacy (1-10, 0-9 AMC) who shot 26 percent from the field. The Lady Lions did not make things easy on the Eutectics as they forced an impressive 26 turnovers while FHU turned the ball over just five times in the contest.

Lauren Roethemeyer led St. Louis College of Pharmacy in total offense as she finished with 12 points and seven rebounds after shooting 6-for-9 from the field.

The Lady Lions dominated the offensive possession from the opening tip as they out-shot St. Louis College of Pharmacy 38-13 in the first half, which included limiting the Eutectics to just four points in the first quarter to take a commanding lead into the half.

FHU would keep things rolling in the second half as they extended their lead to as many as 59 to end the game with an 88-29 victory.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 17-0 on the season and 11-0 in conference play. The Eutectics fall to 1-10 on the season and 0-9 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions match-up against Missouri Baptist University, originally scheduled for Saturday January 14th, has been postponed due to weather concerns in the St. Louis area. Details regarding a future make-up date will be provided as it becomes available.

The Lady Lions are back in action at home Thursday, January 19, as they host Harris Stowe State University for a 5:30 PM match-up at the Brewer Sports Center.
