HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team set their sights on another Top 25 opponent Friday and they did not disappoint, as they were able to take down No. 14 Campbellsville with a final score of 7-2 in their home opener at Carnes Field.

Brandon Guske (2-0) picked up his second win of the season after working a complete game and giving up just eight hits and two earned runs while stirking out five.

The Lions received solid contribution from several players including Chase Young who ended the day going 3-for-5 with a double, a homerun and two RBI. Darcy Moore also exploded at the plate for the Lions, as he went 3-for-4 on the afternoon, which included a double and two RBI, to give FHU all the cushion they needed to secure the victory.

The Lions (3-1) would come out firing to start the game, as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, as Griffin Siebert, Chase Young and Wes Brooks all crossed the plate in the inning. Siebert would get the inning started for the Lions after he reached on a walk and later scored after Brooks reached on a fielder's choice.

Young would also cross the plate in the inning after he singled to left field and scored on Aden Campbell's RBI single to left field. Brooks rounded out the scoring for the Lions, as he found his way around the base path following an RBI single to centerfield by Darcy Moore.

The Lions would add another run in the bottom of the third inning, as Darcy Moore crossed the plate after he reached on a single to left field and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Joe Leatherwood to give FHU a 4-0 lead.

Campbellsville (0-1); however, would respond with some offense of their own in the top half of the fourth inning, as they pushed two runs across courtesy of a RBI double by Romello Carbuccia that scored Brett Hamilton and Matthew Valdez to close the gap at the 4-2 mark.

The Lions would add three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, courtesy of a two-run home-run by Chase Young. The Lions added one more run in the inning, as Larkey Dotson crossed the plate following an RBI double to deep centerfield by Darcy Moore.

Campbellsville struggled to put any offense on the board for the remainder of the game, which allowed the Lions to take home the 7-2 victory in their home opener.

With the win, the Lions move to 3-1 on the season. Campbellsville University falls to 0-1 on the season with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lions will be right back at it Saturday, as they continue their series with Campbellsville University with a double-header beginning at 12:00 PM at Carnes Field.
