HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team dropped their second straight game Saturday night at the hands of Central Baptist College, as the Mustangs defeated the Lions 78-64 at the Brewer Sports Center.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 16-9 on the season and 11-6 in conference play. Central Baptist College moves to 16-7 on the season and 11-6 in AMC play with the win.

The Lions (16-9, 11-6 AMC) shot 35 percent from the field in the game compared to Central Baptist (16-7, 11-6 AMC), who shot 42 percent from the field and an impressive 71 percent from behind the arc.

Despite the loss, the Lions received solid contribution from Spencer Garner who led FHU on the offensive end for a second straight game with 13 points after shooting 2-for-4 from behind the arc. Luke Luna followed close behind, as he chipped in 12 points off the bench to give the Lions a strong presence under the basket.

The Lions held their own for a majority of the first half, as they trailed by just three points at the 20-17 mark with 8:40 remaining. However, from there the Mustangs out-shot the Lions 16-9 in the final eight minutes to take a 36-26 lead entering the break.

From there, the Mustangs continued to roll, as they reached their largest lead of the game at the 59-36 mark with 11 minutes remaining in regulation. The Lions would close the gap to 11 points at the 67-56 mark with three minutes remaining, but that would be as close as they would get as CBC rolled to a 78-64 victory.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action at home on Tuesday, February 14th, as they host Lyon College at the Brewer Sports Center. The Lady Lions kick things off first at 5:30 PM followed by the men's game at 7:30 PM.
