HENDERSON, Tenn - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team picked up their third straight win Saturday morning, as they squeaked out a 2-1 win to take the series with Central Methodist University at Carnes Field.

Beau Caviness (1-0) picked up the win after working 1/3 of an inning and getting the Lions out of a jam in the seventh inning. Riley Echols started the game for the Lions and tossed a gem, as he worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed just four hits while striking out four.

The Lions (6-4) would strike first in the game, as Griffin Siebert crossed the plate in the bottom of the first inning. Siebert reached base in the first at bat of the game and advanced to second following a bobble by Central Methodist that allowed Aden Campbell to reach base. Siebert would cross the plate later in the inning off a base hit by Houston Looser to put FHU up 1-0 early.

Central Methodist (3-3) would battle back in the top part of the fifth inning, as Zach Beckner reached on a walk and later scored following a base hit to left field by Fernando Villegas to even things up at one apiece. However, Echols would regroup to retire the next two batters and keep things close.

Things would stay knotted up at one apiece until the bottom half of the seventh inning when the Lions put together a two-out rally. Chase Young would begin the drive with a double between the gap in left-center to put the winning run in scoring position. Young would score on Aden Campbell's next at bat, as Central Methodist shortstop Zach Beckner committed a throwing error to first base, which allowed the Lions to take the series with a 2-1 victory.

With the win, the Lions improve to 6-4 on the season. Central Methodist University falls to 3-3 on the season with the loss.
