HENDERSON, Tenn. - Saturday was a day of milestones for the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team, as they completed an undefeated regular season with a 90-50 victory over Missouri Baptist University at the Brewer Sports Center. Speaking of milestones, Lady Lion senior guard Taleeah Cross also joined in, as she surpassed 2,000 career points with her 15 point performance in the win.

The Lady Lions had plenty of hot shooting to go around, as four players reached double figures, led by Carrie Hatchel, who put up 18 points in her first start of the season. Cross followed close behind with 15 points and four assists while Kim Mallory chipped in 14 points and pulled down five rebounds. Kaylie Pope rounded out the scoring for the Lady Lions with 11 points after shooting 3-for-6 from behind the arc.

The Lady Lions also won the rebound battle in the match-up, as they out-rebounded the Spartans 47-23, led by Tiffany Pate, who pulled down 13 rebounds in the win.

FHU (30-0, 24-0 AMC) shot an impressive 50 percent in the game compared to Missouri Baptist (11-17, 10-14 AMC), who shot 31 percent from the field and just .07 percent from behind the arc on 1-for-13 shooting.

The Lady Lions started the game quick and jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, courtesy of hot shooting by Carrie Hatchel, who led the Lady Lions with nine points in the first quarter to give FHU a 22-12 lead.

The second quarter would be much of the same for the Lady Lions, as they continued to use hot shooting and solid defense to extend their lead in the match-up. The Lady Lions out-shot the Spartsns 27-11 in the second frame to take a commanding 49-23 lead entering the break.

The Lady Lions shot an impressive 50 percent from the field in the first half, led by Carrie Hatchel, who poured in 15 of her 18 points in the first half alone. Tiffany Pate dominated the glass in the first half, as 10 of her 13 rebounds came in the opening two quarters of the game.

The Lady Lions continued to roll in the second half, as they extended their lead over the Spartans. FHU out-shot the Missouri Baptist 23-8 in the third quarter and reached their largest lead of the game at the 83-39 mark in the fourth quarter on their way to the 90-50 victory.
