HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team recently added another player to its 2010 recruiting class with the signing of Joe Mike of Mayfield, Ky.

Mike, a corner infielder, prepped at Graves Co. HS for Coach Khristian Elliott where he had a monster senior season, hitting .480 with 16 doubles, four homeruns, 47 RBIs and an .840 slugging percentage.  He also went 5-2 on the hill with a 2.43 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched.

Mike received numerous honors for his performance including being named all-district, all-area, all-regional tournament, and team MVP.  He was also selected to play in the 1st Region KHSBCA Junior/Senior All-Star Game.

During the 2009 American Legion season, Mike continued his torrid hitting with a .434 batting average, .585 on-base percentage, five homeruns, and 37 RBIs.

"Joe is one of the top players out of western Kentucky and has all of the honors to prove it," said FHU head coach Jonathan Estes.  "He is a strong kid that can really hit and comes from a great family. Joe's character and emphasis on academics are equally impressive.

"We think Joe will fall in love with FHU and the feeling will be mutual."

Joe is the son of Joe III and Kim Mike.
