Lions drop weekend series with Belleville in Sunday loss

HENDERSON, Tenn. -  Despite taking a comfortable 7-1 lead following two innings of play Sunday, the Freed-Hardeman Lion baseball team could not hold on, as a late charge by Lindenwood-Belleville would send the Lions home with a 12-9 loss.

Despite the loss, Freed-Hardeman (14-12; 5-7 AMC) found success at the plate, as they scattered 11 hits, led by Aden Campbell who went 4-for-5 on the day with three RBI. Griffin Siebert was also solid at the plate, as he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Collin McPherson was dealt the loss out of the pen after he went 0.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits.

Ethan Ruff led the Lynx (10-14, 6-8 AMC) at the plate, as he went 4-for-5 on the day with one run scored and one RBI. Dylan Skinner and Hayden Stevens both contributed home runs in the match-up while five other players pounded out an RBI in the win.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 14-12 on the season and 5-7 in conference play. The Lynx improve to 10-14 on the season and 6-8 in AMC play with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Tuesday, March 21, as they face College of the Ozarks for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 PM at Carnes Field.
