BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team snapped an eight game winning streak Tuesday on the road at Blue Mountain College, as they fell 3-1 in the opening game followed by a 4-1 loss in the nightcap.

Makenzie Prince (4-2) suffered the loss in the opening game after working four innings and allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out two. Hannah Wright worked two innings of relief and allowed just one hit in the loss.

Blue Mountain (14-14) would jump out to an early lead the opening game, as three runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the first inning, which would prove to be all they needed to secure the win. Despite the loss, the Lady Lions (11-6) out-hit the Toppers 6-4, led by Caitlyn Carter who went 2-for-4 on the day.

The Toppers continued to roll in the nightcap, as they pushed two runs across in the first inning followed by two more runs in the sixth to pick up the 4-1 win.

Mallory Spurlock (4-2) suffered the loss in the nightcap after working four innings and allowing just three hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Hannah Wright worked two innings of relief and allowed four hits and two earned runs in the loss.

FHU struggled at the plate in the nightcap, as none of the Lady Lion players surpassed one hit in the game. Despite the loss, Caitlyn Carter, once again, led the Lady Lions at the plate, as she went 1-for-3 on the day with one scored run to keep FHU in the game early on.

With the double header loss, the Lady Lions fall to 11-6 on the season. The Topper move to 14-14 on the season with the sweep.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions resume conference play Friday, March 31st, as they make the trip to Columbia, Mo. for a double header with Columbia College. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
