HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team opened their 2017-18 recruiting class Tuesday with the recent signing of Alyssa LeMay, a 5-11 forward from Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.

Throughout her time at Mt. Pleasant High School, Lemay averaged 26 points, nine rebounds and two blocks per game while earning District 11-A MVP honors and being a member of the Tennessee Sports Writer's Association All-State team her senior season with the Tigers.

LeMay also leaves Mt. Pleasant as the career points leader for men's and women's basketball, as she surpassed 1,700 career points, which topped Eric Hughes, current Assistant Principal at Mt. Pleasant, who set the scoring record back in 1991.

Dale Neal, head coach for the Lady Lion basketball program, said he was excited about the addition of LeMay and feels she will benefit the team in a big way in the coming years.

"We are so pleased that Alyssa has elected to become a Lady Lion," Neal said. "She has a high basketball IQ and loves the game. She has worked hard to develop a skill set that will make her a force to be reckoned with on the college level. She is an outstanding shooter with great 3 point range."

LeMay is the first player to sign with the Lady Lion basketball program for the 2017-18 season.
