HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion softball team picked up their fourth straight win Saturday on Senior Day, as they defeated Missouri Baptist University with a 9-1 victory in the opening game and 5-2 win in the nightcap.

Makenzie Prince (7-2) dominated in the circle in the opening game, as she cruised through six innings of work and allowed just four hits while striking out seven.

The Lady Lions (16-7, 14-2 AMC) pounded out 12 hits in the opening game, led by Kaylyn Graham, who went 2-for-4 on the day with five RBI and a double. Caitlyn Carter and Abbi Gooch both belted out triples in the game while Morgan Warren went 2-for-3.

FHU did a majority of their damage in the bottom of the first inning, as five runs crossed the plate. Kaylyn Graham pounded out three RBI in the inning after blasting a double to deep center field to score Carter, Gooch and Annaka Baxter. Graham would also cross the plate later in the inning along with Makenzie Prince to put FHU up 5-0 early on.

The Lady Lions added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Caitlyn Carter belted a triple to deep center field to score Kristen Hunsicker to put FHU up 6-0. Carter would cross the plate later in the inning off a sacrifice fly by Annaka Baxter to give the Lady Lions a 7-0 lead while Kaylyn Graham contributed another RBI with a single to shallow left field to score Gooch and give FHU an eight-run cushion.

Missouri Baptist (13-17, 5-9 AMC) got one run back in the top of the fifth inning to extend the game, but the Lady Lions would still take care of things in the bottom of the sixth inning. Abbi Gooch started the inning with a bang, as she belted a triple to deep center field and scored later in the inning, as Kaylyn Graham contributed her fifth RBI with a ground out to second base to give FHU the 9-1 victory.

The Lady Lions had a slightly tighter match-up in the nightcap, but in the end they followed suit and secured the 5-2 victory for their fourth straight win. FHU blasted 16 hits in the game, but could not bring all of them home, as they left 11 on base.

However, FHU was able to keep Missouri Baptist off the board for a majority of the game, courtesy of quality work in the circle by Mallory Spurlock (6-2), who picked up the win after working a complete game and allowing just four hits while striking out nine.

The Lady Lions received solid contribution from several players at the plate, led by Kaylyn Graham who went 2-for-4 in the nightcap with a double and two RBI in the win. In addition to her solid pitching in the circle, Spurlock also excelled at the plate, as she also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Lilly Bombard belted a triple in the 5-2 victory.

With the sweep, the Lady Lions improve to 16-7 on the season and 14-2 in conference play. Missouri Baptist falls to 13-17 on the season and 5-9 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions continue their home-stand Tuesday, April 11th, as they play host to Lyon (Ark.) College for a double-header at Morgan Stadium. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.
