FHU Golf Hanging Tough After Day One of Natural State Classic

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion and Lion golf teams are back in action this week in their final tournament of the spring season, competing in the Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs, Ark. Harding University is hosting the event, being played at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club.

Rainy conditions delayed the start of the opening round, with tee times being pushed back three hours. The Lady Lions are currently in first place and lead by five shots after posting a team score of 338 in the opening round. Sophomore Kayland Boling led the Lady Lions and sits atop the leaderboard after firing an 81. Freshman Kirsten Parker's 84 puts her in a tie for fourth place. Brittany Myers' 86 produced a ninth place opening round while Emily Whitnell's 87 puts her in tenth.

The Lions team score of 309 finds them in a tie for tenth place. Freshman Trey Lashlee and junior Ben Burnette led the Lions, each shooting rounds of 76. Easton Lavelle's 77 and Hudson Huber's 80 rounded out the team scoring for the Lions.

Final round action begins Tuesday with tee times starting at 8:00 AM.
