Easton Lavelle named AMC Men's Golfer of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference announced Monday that FHU golfer Easton Lavelle was selected as the AMC Men's Golfer of the Week, as released by the national office. Park University's Makenzie Shivers took the Women's Golf Player of the Week honors for a fourth time this season.

Lavelle, a junior from Munford, Tenn., fired a 3-under par 68 in the final round of the Natural State Golf Classic, helping the Lions to a seventh place finish in the event while claiming a six place finish for himself.

Shivers, a senior from Rescue, Calif., won the University of Illinois-Springfield Spring Invitational, her second straight event victory. Her week was highlighted by a Sunday performance that included her setting a park record with a 32 on the back nine at Panther Creek Country Club – the site of the Web.com Tour’s Lincolnland event – which included her first career hole-in-one which came at the 129-yard par-3 11th hole. She posted a 4-under par stretch at 10, 11, and 12 on Sunday as well.

Other Notable Performances:

Curtis Brokenbrow – Missouri Baptist

Brokenbrow grabbed a 10th-place finish at the Weist Foundation Classic, shooting scores of 74 and 75 on the nearly 6,900 yard Red Tail Run course in Decatur, Ill. He leads the Spartans with a spring scoring average of 73.1 entering the AMC Championship, and he grabbed his fourth straight top-10 finish of the spring.

Kayland Boling – Freed-Hardeman

Boling won the Natural State Golf Classic by shooting rounds of 81 and 77 for a total of 158. The performance also helped the Lady Lions take the team title in the tournament.

The American Midwest Conference is a 13-school NAIA Division I conference with schools in Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee.  It was chartered in 1986 as the Show-Me Collegiate Conference becoming the American Midwest Conference in 1994.  The Conference sponsors 16 championships, eight each for men and women - baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's outdoor track & field, women's volleyball and men's wrestling.
