HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion basketball team added another player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the recent signing of Averyale Joy of Middleton, Tenn.

Joy transfers to FHU from Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Miss., where she averaged 16 points per game while ranking No. 2 in the nation at the junior college level in assists.

A native of Middleton, Tenn., Joy prepped at Middleton High School, where she was a 2015 Miss Basketball Finalist after averaging 17 points per game her senior season with the Tigers.

Dale Neal, head coach for the Lady Lion basketball program, said Joy will have plenty of chances to contribute right away as a result of her experience at the college level.

“Averyale fills a much needed spot for our 17-18 Roster,” said Neal. “I love her versatility. Not only can she handle and distribute the ball extremely well, she can also score. Her experience at the collegiate level and her skill set will allow her to step right in and make an immediate contribution.”

Joy is the fourth player to sign with the Lady Lion basketball program for the upcoming season. She joins Alyssa Lemay (Mt. Pleasant High School/ Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.), Jordan Mays (Marmaduke High School/Marmaduke, Ark.) and Janae Strode (Dawson Community College/Las Vegas, Nev.)  in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lady Lions.
