HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team and softball team added another player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the recent signing of two-sport athlete Maria Mask of Florence, Ala.

Mask prepped at Wilson High School in Florence, Ala., where she demonstrated a high level of success in volleyball and softball. Throughout her senior season with the volleyball team at Wilson High School she combined for 350 kills, 351 digs, 50 aces and 52 blocks.

In softball, she was just as impressive in the circle, as she led the Warriors to a 24-9 record while averaging four strikeouts per game and maintaining a 2.12 ERA. In addition to her impressive play in the circle, Mask also found success at the plate, as she hit .351 her senior season while belting out 42 RBI.

Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion volleyball and softball programs, said Mask will add versatility to both teams during the 2017-18 season.

"We are excited to add this two-sport athlete to the Lady Lion family," said Humphry. "Maria will excel in volleyball and softball and we look forward to her being with us in the Fall."

Mask is the first player to sign with the Lady Lion softball team and the sixth player signed to the Lady Lion volleyball team for the upcoming season. She joins Rachel Hudgins (Hickman County High School/Centerville, Tenn.), Reilly Fulton (Centennial High School/Franklin, Tenn.), Claire Walker (Hazel Green High School / Hazel Green, Ala.), Emma Self (Middle Tennessee Christian / Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Shea Dean (South Side High School/Jackson, Tenn.) in the 2017 volleyball recruiting class.
