HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team added another player to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the recent signing of Jacob DeLauri of Austin, Texas.

DeLauri, a 6-1 guard, prepped at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas, where he averaged nine points and two assists per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.

Jim Sanderson, head coach for the Lion basketball program, said DeLauri will be a great addition to the 2017-18 roster as a result of his versatility and style of play.

“I am happy to announce the signing of DeLauri,” Sanderson said. “Jacob is a lefty two-guard that will definitely stretch opposing defenses with his outside shooting and will be a big contributor to creating the culture we expect in our program. He is an excellent student and will be a nice addition to the FHU family.”

DeLauri is the son of Brian DeLauri and Stacie Norman of Austin, Texas. He is the seventh player added to the Lions roster for the upcoming season. He joins Daniel Meis (Memphis, Tenn. /Memphis Nighthawks), Kortland Martin (Humboldt, Tenn. /Humboldt High School), Jonathan Leach (Houston, Texas/Texas Christian) Latrell Poitier (Freeport, Bahamas/St. Petersburg College), Shamir Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas/Roane State Community College) and Jahmeel Watts (Hudson, N.C./Caldwell Community College) in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lion basketball program.
