Lions Basketball Adds Michigan Forward to 2017-18 Recruiting Class

HENDERSON, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion basketball team recently added a Michigan forward to its 2017-18 recruiting class with the signing of Tyler Johnson of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Johnson, a 6-4 small forward, prepped at Kenowa Hills High School in Grand Rapids, MIch., where he averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game while also being a force on the defensive side of the floor.

In addition to his ability on the court, Johnson has also excelled in the classroom, as he earned an impressive 3.8 GPA throughout his time at Kenowa Hills.
"We are extremely excited that Tyler will be joining our roster for the upcoming season," said Jim Sanderson, head coach for the Lion basketball program. "Tyler will bring great toughness and grit to our program, along with being a great student. He will be an enjoyable addition to the Freed-Hardeman family."

Tyler is the son of E.J. and Julie Johnson of Grand Rapids, Mich. He is the ninth player added to the Lions roster for the upcoming season. He joins Daniel Meis (Memphis, Tenn. /Memphis Nighthawks), Kortland Martin (Humboldt, Tenn. /Humboldt High School), Jonathan Leach (Houston, Texas/Texas Christian) Latrell Poitier (Freeport, Bahamas/St. Petersburg College), Shamir Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas/Roane State Community College), Jahmeel Watts (Hudson, N.C./Caldwell Community College), Jacob DeLauri (Austin, Texas/Rouse High School) and Charles Boyle IV (Rossville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) in the 2017-18 recruiting class for the Lion basketball program.
