BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion soccer team evened up their conference record at 1-1 Tuesday on the road at Lyon College, as they exploded for four goals and limited the Scots to just one goal in the 4-1 victory.

Samantha Clymer led the charge for the Lady Lions, as she fired in two goals to keep the Scots on their heels the entire day. Nele Kirsch and Avis Van Kampen followed close behind, as each finished with one goal while combining for two of the four shots on goal in the match. Erin Douglas was solid in goal for the Lady Lion, as she allowed just one goal while saving three of the four shots she faced.

Despite attempting just five shots and four shots on goal in the match, the Lady Lions (3-4, 1-1 AMC) made good on the few opportunities they had, as they capitalized with four goals. Lyon College (2-4-1, 2-1 AMC), on the other hand, attempted 13 shots and four shots on goal in the match, but mustered just one goal in the loss.

Freshman Nele Kirsch got the scoring drive started for the Lady Lions in the first frame, as she found the back of the net in the 17th minute off a solid pass from Sydney Dubiel to put FHU up 1-0 early.

The remainder of the first half would belong to Sophomore transfer Samantha Clymer, as she accounted for the remaining two first half goals for the Lady Lions that came less than two minutes apart. Clymer's first goal came in the 24th minute following a cross by Nele Kirsch while her second goal came in the 25th minute off a cross by McCall Decker to give FHU a 3-0 advantage entering the break.

The Lady Lions found the back of the net one more time in the second half, as Avis Van Kampen got in on the scoring action with a goal in the 73rd minute off an assist by Taylor Woods to put FHU up 4-0.

The Scots tallied their lone goal in the match in the 85th minute, as Judith Flores fired in a goal off an assist by Darby Blaylock on the free kick. However, the comeback would be too little too late, as the Lady Lions kept the Scots quiet for the remainder of the match to secure the 4-1 victory.

With the win, the Lady Lions improve to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. With the loss, Lyon College falls to 2-4-1 on the season and 2-1 in AMC play.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Saturday, September 23rd, as they host Stephens College. Match time is slated for 2:00 PM at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
