BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Freed-Hardeman Lion soccer team struck first with a late goal in the second half, but it was not enough as Lyon College found the back of the net at the end of regulation and in the overtime period to hand FHU a 2-1 loss in Batesville, Ark.

Roger Gisbert scored the lone goal for the Lions in the 79th minute off an assist by George Achard. The goal for Gisbert was the only goal scored throughout the first 84 minutes of play, as the defensive pressure was solid for both teams.

The Lions kept a 1-0 lead near the end of regulation until Lyon midfielder Jeremy Porter found the back of the net in the 84th minute off an assist by Trace Gary to even things up at one apiece to force overtime.

It wouldn't take long for the Scots to finish things off in the overtime period, as Nicholas Vasquez scored in the opening minute off a cross by Jose Poblete to secure the victory for Lyon.

The Lions (1-5, 0-2 AMC) kept pace with the Scots for a majority of the match, as they attempted 10 shots and two shots on goal compared to Lyon College (3-2, 2-0 AMC), who attempted 12 shots and five shots on goal in the match.

Tuesday's loss marks the second overtime loss for the Lions throughout the first six games of this young season. With the loss, the Lions fall to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Lyon College improves to 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in AMC play with the win.

UP NEXT: The Lions are back in action Tuesday, September 26th, as they host in-state foe Fisk University. Match time is slated for 7:00 PM at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
