FHU Volleyball Outlasts Harris Stowe For 3-2 Win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team notched their second conference win of the season Saturday, as they secured a 3-2 win over Harris Stowe in St. Louis, Mo. (23-25, 25-18, 27-29, 25-9, 15-10)

"It was a great conference win for our team against a solid Harris Stowe team," said Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion volleyball team. "It was a great environment to play in and a positive win for our team."

With the victory, the Lady Lions not only secured a much needed win, they also evened up their conference record in the process and move to 3-8 on the season and 2-2 in AMC play with the win. The Lady Lions (3-8, 2-2 AMC) compiled 48 kills in the match and hit .230 compared to Harris Stowe (2-3, 1-2 AMC) who compiled 52 kills and hit .152 in the match. 

Freshman Claire Walker paced the attack for the Lady Lions, as she ended the day with 14 kills. Katie Collier followed close behind and reached double digits with 12 kills of her own while Shea Dean compiled seven kills in the win. Lindsey Gordon distributed the ball well in the match, as she contributed all 42 assists for the Lady Lions. Reilly Fulton countered the Hornet attack well and ended the day with 19 defensive digs.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 3-8 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. Harris Stowe falls to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in AMC play with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Tuesday, September 26th, as they host NCAA neighbor Lane College. Match time is slated for 5:30 PM at the Brewer Sports Center.
