MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team picked up another payback win Tuesday night, this time against Bethel University, as they defeated the Wildcats 3-2 at Crisp Arena in McKenzie, Tenn. (25-23, 25-7, 24-26, 23-25, 16-14)

The last time the Lady Lions faced Bethel University was earlier this season on September 7th and with it came a loss in straight sets at the Brewer Sports Center. Tuesday; however, was a much different story, as the Lady Lions turned the tables and secured a 3-2 victory to notch their seventh win of the season.

"I was very proud of the way we played tonight," said Todd Humphry, head coach for the Lady Lion volleyball team. "It feels great to beat a team on the road that we lost to earlier in the season because it shows we are progressing as a team."

Bojana Antunovic and Claire Walker paced the Lady Lion attack, as each ended the night with 13 kills. Alex Britt followed close behind and reached double digits on the attack with 12 kills while also compiling 14 digs.

Lindsey Gordon distributed the ball well in the match, as she contributed 49 of FHU's 50 assists in the match while also compiling 14 defensive digs in the win. Reilly Fulton countered the Wildcat attack well and ended the night with an impressive 28 defensive digs.

FHU had to battle to start the match, as the first set went down to the wire. However, despite trailing by as many as seven in the set at the 22-15 mark, the Lady Lions battled back and out-hit the Wildcats 10-1 to take the first set 25-23.

The Lady Lions kept the momentum going into the second set, as they jumped out to an early lead and only allowed Bethel to muster seven points in the 25-7 second set win.

However, despite falling behind 2-0 in the set, the Wildcats would not go down without a fight, as they battled back to take the next two sets from the Lions (26-24, 25-23) to force a fifth set.

The Lady Lions; however, would not be denied the payback win, as they kept their foot on the gas pedal to finish out the fifth set with a 16-14 victory following an attack error by Bethel and a kill by Bojana Antunovic in the final two volleys.

With the win, the Lady Lions move to 7-10 on the season. Bethel University falls to 8-12 on the season with the loss.

UP NEXT: The Lady Lions are back in action Friday, October 20th, as they play host to conference foe Central Baptist College. Match time is slated for 6:00 PM at the Brewer Sports Center.
