HENDERSON, Tenn. - Thanks to a little help from Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lion volleyball team was able to secure at least a share of their third straight regular season TranSouth Conference and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Last night, Trevecca (8-3 in conference) put away Bethel (Tenn.) University in straight sets to take Bethel (9-4 in conference) out of the running for the top spot. The Lady Lions, which currently hold an 11-2 mark in TranSouth play with one match remaining, can now finish no worse than a tie for first place with Trevecca and will hold the tiebreaker for the top seed in the conference tournament after taking both regular season meetings with the Trojans.
A Freed-Hardeman win at Lyon (Ark.) College on Nov. 3 would give the Lady Lions the outright regular season championship, as would a Trevecca loss in any of its final three conference matches.
FHU plays a non-conference tournament this weekend in Georgetown, Ky., where it will face off against three nationally-ranked teams.
