HENDERSON, Tenn. - The No. 15 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions jumped ahead early and never let up in an 89-50 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Saturday in the FHU Sports Center.
The Lady Lions used a 13-0 run midway through the first half to take a 22-6 lead with 8:10 left in the half. Cumberland would never get closer than 13 points the rest of the way, and FHU (19-4, 7-3) closed out the game by outscoring the Bulldogs 29-9 over the last 11 minutes of play.
Meribeth Boehler and Hannah Parsley both turned in strong performances. Boehler led all scorers with 24 points while Parsley added a season-high 20 points. Parsley going 5-of-7 from 3-point range, including two that came from well beyond the arc. Boehler also went 10-of-10 from the free throw line for the game.
Jana Cross added 15 points as FHU's two starting posts combined to go 13-of-22 from the field.
The Lady Lions also dominated the boards, outrebounding Cumberland 49-16. Maria Bagwell almost outrebounded Cumberland by herself, grabbing 15 total rebounds including 10 in the first half. She finished with nine points, one shy of a double-double.
Freed-Hardeman has a week off before traveling to face No. 1 Union (Tenn.) University on Saturday, Feb. 13.
