Head Coach - 17th Season
Alma Mater:Freed-Hardeman University

Jason Elliott begins his 17th season as the head men's and women's soccer coach at Freed-Hardeman University.

Elliott has been a part of the men's soccer program since it was instituted in 2000. He was a player on the inaugural team and scored the first goal in school history on Sept. 16, 2000, against Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. The year after, he succeeded Chuck Begnaud as the head coach of both programs.

In 2008, the Lady Lions won a program-record nine matches and qualified for the conference tournament under Elliott’s leadership.  The Lions also had a solid season, winning seven matches despite having only one senior on the roster.

That success continued in 2010 when both the Lady Lions and Lions set new records for wins in a season.  The Lady Lions topped their 2008 mark with 10 wins while the Lions tied the program record of 13 wins, but did it in fewer matches than in 2004 when the record was first established.  The Lions also won four games in conference and hosted a conference tournament match for the first time after finishing in third place in the regular season.  Elliott was named the men’s soccer conference coach of the year for his efforts in leading the Lions to a season that exceeded expectations.

The Lion and Lady Lion programs emphasize more than success on the field. Since 2001, the programs have boasted a combined 134 TranSouth Conference Scholar Athletes and 38 NAIA Scholar Athletes and have routinely posted team GPAs of 3.0 or higher.

In 2010, Elliott had eight players recognized as all-conference performers by the TranSouth: Nikki Ceeney, Tiffany Harris, Julie Bracknell, Briley Collins, Kenniel Hyde, Simbarashe Zvaita, Archibold Marowa and Alexandre Girodo.  Elliott has coached players from 22 states and many countries including Argentina, Peru, India, Jamaica, Germany, Brazil, Scotland, England, Paraguay, Australia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Guinea and Finland.

Elliott is also the director of the summer soccer camps that have grown each year since they started.  The camps are known for development of players and emphasizing the role of sports in the athletes’ lives.

Elliott holds the advanced national coaching diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association.

Elliott, a native of McPherson, Kan., completed his undergraduate work at Freed-Hardeman in 2000 and earned a master's degree in 2001. He is the son of Glen and Colleen Elliott of Greenbrier, Ark., and has a younger sister, Elizabeth, who lives in Kansas City and an older brother, Benjamin, who passed away in June 2009.  He is married to the former Misti Mason. He has three children: Amos, Lydia and Isaiah.
