John Armstrong
John Armstrong joined the Freed-Hardeman athletics staff in Dec. 2007 as the Sports Information Director.  Armstrong spent two and a half years as the editor of the high school sports periodical On The Ball Magazine, a free monthly publication that covered high school athletics in West Tennessee.  While there, he helped the start-up company expand its West Tennessee coverage into the Memphis metropolitan area as well as starting new magazines in the Nashville and Dallas metro markets.
 
Before his employment with On The Ball, Armstrong spent six years as the Director of Human Resources at Freed-Hardeman.  During five of those years (2001-2005) he also served as the radio play-by-play voice of Lion and Lady Lion basketball as well as Chester Co. HS football on 91.5 WFHU FM.  He was behind the microphone for two of the Lady Lions' three TranSouth Conference championships including the historic first title won in 2004.
 
Armstrong is a 1996 graduate of Freed-Hardeman where he received a Bachelors of Business Administration.  He and his wife, Tammy, have three children: Amanda (10), Summer (6), and Tyler (2).  He also coaches his oldest daughter's travel softball team.
